I'm using a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB with a P4/3GHz CPU and 1GB of PC3200 dual channel DDR RAM, so I wouldn't think it to be a hardware limitation. I'm guessing maybe display driver issues. I may have to try this out, I have a very similar setup, just with an AMD XP 3200+ instead of the P4.

ATI has horrible drivers that you upgrade downgrade all the time. The extra $100-$200 you spend on an Nvidia card saves you this trouble. I admit I've only had my Radeon 9800 Pro for relatively short while, but I've played at least 20 or 30 games on it and never had a problem so far with driver issues.
